Collecting signatures against relocation quotas

A conservative columnist sees no point in continuing to collect signatures against mandatory migrant relocation quotas as pro-government activists are doing across the country, since the European Union has already dropped the idea of forcing member countries to accept a pre-established number of refugees.

In Magyar Nemzet, Gábor Stier questions the rationality of continuing the campaign keeping pro-government activists busy. The European Union has recognised that the idea to compel countries to host a given number of refugees will probably turn out to be illegal and is now asking for voluntary quotas. He thinks Hungary should not completely withdraw from all forms of joint solutions to the migration problem. (Foreign Minister Péter Szíjjártó said Hungary already contributes more than its fair share to financial aid to refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon.) Otherwise Stier criticises European Union leaders for commissioning Turkey to protect the external borders of the Union and offering it Union membership in return, despite its huge democracy deficit.
