Ferencváros crushed by Faroese team

As Hungary’s most titled football team was eliminated from the Champions’ League by KÍ Klaksvik, a left-wing commentator draws political conclusions from the result.

In Népszava, Róbert T. Varga finds it too easy a response from Ferencváros to dismiss the Russian team manager. He believes the 3:0 defeat by the government’s favourite team stuffed with billions of public money by a semi-professional opponent from the Faroe Islands is a failure for the government itself. What is nice about football, he writes, is that Davids may sometimes defeat Goliaths. Especially when they are well-organised. Varga takes that as a lesson for ‘all those who have had enough of the Fidesz dreamworld’.
