Népszava comments on a recent poll by the Publicus Institute, and contends that Hungarians are becoming less and less satisfied with the government’s response to the war in Ukraine. According to the survey, since April, the ratio of Hungarians satisfied with the government’s response has sunk from 66 per cent to 42. The left-wing daily, however, notes that the vast majority (79 per cent) still agrees with the government that Hungary should not send weapons to support Ukraine and a similarly high percentage of the respondents (68 per cent) agree with the government’s efforts to help Ukrainian refugees. At the same time, only 29 per cent of the respondents said that Hungary can maintain good relations with Russia and the EU at the same time (in April, 45 per cent thought so), Népszava notes. The Publicus poll also shows that pro-government and opposition voters still have different perceptions of the war: 88 per cent of opposition voters see the war as a Russian aggression, but only 46 per cent of Fidesz supporters agree with this statement.
