In Magyar Hírlap, Imre Boros calls for more subsidies for mothers. He  points out that women who bear children have lower wages and can expect lower pensions. He suggests that helping them is not only a matter of fairness but would also help to boost the birthrate. Giving mothers more benefits and recognizing their contribution to the country could also send an important symbolic message, and strengthen traditional family values as well as intergenerational solidarity, Boros contends. As an example, he raises the idea that parents with several children should get higher pensions, while childless adults should pay more into the social welfare budget.
