PM Orbán meets Donald Trump in Florida
March 9th, 2024A pro-government columnist calls the day when the two leaders met ‘super Friday’.
In Magyar Nemzet, László Szőcs quotes opinion polls that show majority support for Donald Trump among Hungarian adults. Even a quarter of opposition-leaning respondents would prefer him to Joe Biden in the White House, he writes. He attributes this to the fact that Hungarian-American relations flourished under the Trump presidency, while reaching record lows lately. As Szőcs sees it, US ambassador to Budapest David Pressman has deliberately destroyed the bases of constructive dialogue between the two sides. If Trump triumphs in November, he concludes, Mr Pressman will have to leave Budapest.
