EU considers ninth sanctions package against Russia
November 9th, 2022A pro-government columnist is outraged by reports that new EU sanctions would ban the import of Russian nuclear fuel.
Magyar Nemzet’s Gergely Kiss finds shocking the news that the European Council is planning to propose a ninth round of sanctions against Russia. The pro-government commentator suggests that banning Russian nuclear fuel imports would have catastrophic implications for Hungary, as a third of the country’s electricity is produced in the Paks nuclear power station, which runs on Russian fuel. Kiss contends that previous sanctions have harmed the EU and its member states much more than Russia, and they certainly did not end the war. Kiss concludes by calling on the European Council to stop the introduction of what he calls counterproductive sanctions.
