Families to get full income tax rebate in 2021
June 11th, 2021A pro-government commentator welcomes Prime Minister Orbán’s announcement,
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Orbán announced that if GDP growth reaches 5.5 per cent in 2021, families with children may get back the personal income tax paid this year up to 800,000 Forints per parent.
In Magyar Nemzet, Gergely Kiss thinks that the decision to fully refund personal income tax in this way is clear proof that the Hungarian economy is strong and resilient. The pro-government columnist notes that the tax rebate will not be financed from loans. Kiss contrasts the Orbán government’s policies with those of the pre-2010 Socialist-liberal government, which resulted in skyrocketing debt and deficit, he recalls. Kiss contends that if the opposition wins in 2022, the same old left-wing policies will return and economic growth will soon be over.
