Momentum leader wants to ban “government propagandists”
March 17th, 2021A pro-government commentator finds it shocking that the leader of Momentum would temporarily ban right-wing journalists who, in his view, spread fake news.
Momentum front man András Fekete-Győr suggested in a Facebook video that if he became Prime Minister, he would temporarily ban from their jobs pro-government “propagandists” who spread fake news.
Magyar Nemzet’s Ottó Gajdics finds it shocking that Fekete-Győr, who is running in the opposition parties’ autumn primary to select a joint candidate to oppose Viktor Orbán in 2022, made his remarks about pro-government journalists two days before March 15, the anniversary of the 1848 revolution, which is also the day of press freedom in Hungary. The pro-government commentator likens András Fekete-Győr’s statement to the efforts of Communist dictators to silence their critics. Gajdics notes that the opposition has long accused the government of limiting free speech. He takes Fekete-Győr’s statement as proof that the opposition is a threat to democracy in Hungary.
