Fekete-Győr to run in opposition primary
February 24th, 2021A pro-government site believes that the leader of Momentum has no chance of becoming Prime Minister Orbán’s challenger in next year’s election.
Momentum announced on Sunday that András Fekete-Győr will be its nominee at the opposition primary to be held in September this year which will elect the joint opposition candidate for Prime Minister. Fekete-Győr said he imagines a government with new people and that PM Orbán, cabinet Minister Antal Rogán and Lőrinc Mészáros, the billionaire childhood friend of the Prime Minister are all criminals who will end up in jail under the new government. DK leader Ferenc Gyurcsány commented on his Facebook page that it is up to the courts to decide who is a criminal and who goes to jail.
On Origo, Bálint Bordács writes that Mr Gyurcsány gave a stern lesson to Fekete-Győr, by lecturing him about the rule of law. The pro-government commentator thinks that Fekete-Győr is unfit for the job, and in fact, Momentum originally planned to propose the candidacy of some independent personality, but apparently no such person was ready to run on their behalf. No wonder, Bordács writes, that Gyurcsány welcomed Fekete-Győr’s nomination, because, as he sees it, Momentum’s leader will be no match for his wife, Klára Dobrev who will probably be the nominee of the Democratic Coalition.
